Player Version vs Fan Version Jersey
Most football shirts come in two versions. They look the same from a distance but are made for different people.
Player version
The player version (also called the match or authentic version) is cut the way the players wear it on the pitch.
- Slim, athletic fit — close to the body. Size up if you are between sizes.
- Lighter, more breathable fabric, often with a textured knit and ventilation zones.
- Heat-pressed badges and logos to keep the shirt light.
- Usually the more expensive of the two.
Fan version
The fan version (also called the stadium or replica version) is made for everyday wear.
- Regular fit — more room in the chest and stomach.
- Slightly heavier, durable fabric that handles daily wear and washing.
- Stitched (embroidered) or printed badges depending on the kit.
- Lower price.
Which one should you buy?
Buy a player version if you want the closest look and feel to what the players wear and you like a fitted shirt. Buy a fan version if you want a comfortable jersey to wear often, to matches, or as a gift — and it is easier on the budget.
Terms you will see in India
Shops in India also use words like "first copy" and "master copy". These are shop terms for the quality grade of a jersey, not official names, so always check the photos, the fabric details and the fit before you buy.
